Your app licence
Apps obtained through Apple’s App Store use the Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement unless a custom licence is provided with the purchase. Check the licence accompanying your purchase. This page explains use of Miniature Studio; it is not a replacement app licence.
Your models and artwork
Importing, converting or painting a model does not transfer ownership of the underlying model or remove its licence conditions. Check that you have the permissions needed for your intended use. Permission to download or paint a model is not necessarily permission to redistribute, sell or commercially print it.
The included Demo Marine can be used for painting in the app. Its inclusion does not by itself grant permission to resell or redistribute its geometry. Before sharing, selling or printing it, check the applicable permissions with support. The same principle applies to models you import yourself. Only send support files that you have permission to share.
Paint references and mixtures
Miniature Studio is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Games Workshop, The Army Painter or Vallejo. Referenced paint names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Swatches, mixtures and brush effects are digital approximations. They are not calibrated colour matches, physical paint formulations or guarantees of results with real paint. Screens, lighting, primer, finish and application affect appearance. Entries marked reference-only do not simulate their physical effects.
Exporting and printing
Exports contain the saved working model. They cannot restore detail removed during preparation. Keep your original source model and an editable project backup.
- Painted OBJ: keep the OBJ, MTL and texture images together after extracting the ZIP. The OBJ alone does not contain the painted appearance.
- Painted USDZ: appearance depends on the receiving app’s material and texture support.
- STL: geometry only, without paint colours.
Check dimensions, wall thickness, holes, supports and mesh suitability in your slicer. Colour printing requires compatible software and hardware; a coloured export does not make a standard single-material printer reproduce the painting. Follow your printer and material suppliers’ safety instructions.
Saving and backups
Core preparation and painting work locally. Download cloud-hosted source files before travelling. Back up important editable projects outside the app before removing it or changing device. Exported copies and device backups are managed separately.
Help and purchase problems
For technical problems, use the painting guide and support page or email miniaturestudio4@gmail.com. Apple purchase and refund requests can also be made through Apple’s purchase support.
Nothing on this page removes or limits your statutory consumer rights or remedies. Availability through a particular storefront does not change those rights.
Privacy and acknowledgements
See the privacy policy for information about local projects, sharing, the website and support correspondence. Open-source acknowledgements and the bundled meshoptimizer MIT licence are available in the app’s About and Support screen.
